In a bizarre collaboration that breaks conventional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Disclosed

According to the formal release, "A strange confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where rumors of banned rituals and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine cult.

The questline centers on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Changes

The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Additional Material

Players who accomplish the quest will obtain an exclusive katana together with numerous items secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Addition

This patch also introduces the game's latest free story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Collaborations

This represents scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
